To round off our Olympics topic and fuel our love of art, we spent Tuesday afternoon creating ‘Olympic Movement’ artwork.
First, we discussed the different types of races that are held during the athletics component of the Olympic Games. Then, learners were tasked with drawing a simple figure moving through the air at speed. Once happy with their outline, pupils then created their own interpretation of speed and movement using squiggly lines.
After completing their free hand drawing, learners chose a combination oil pastels and charcoal or felt pens to bring their piece to life.
